Emperor returns gamers to Dune, land of sand, home of the spice and the first real-time strategy title. This all-new game presents the Dune universe in full 3-D. As in the classic Dune 2, players can command three unique political houses: noble Attreides, evil Harkonnen, and insidious Ordos. Five powerful subgroups add to the volatile political climate. There are four game worlds to battle on, and players can choose large-scale strategic advances or ground-level tactics. Gamers can wage war online both head-to-head and cooperatively.

Few science fiction licenses have a richer backstory than Frank Herbert's Dune, and few computer games were as influential as Westwood Studios' Dune II way back in the early '90s. Dune II was the very first real-time strategy game and created a new genre now stocked with such hits as StarCraft and Command & Conquer. Westwood returns to Dune to innovate again with its first fully 3-D strategy game, Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Emperor's battles will rage over three different planets until the final battles on Arrakis, otherwise known as Dune. The three factions from the original game return: the sinister Ordos, the evil Harkonnen, and the noble Atreides. New to the game are five minor factions that can be manipulated into the battle through clever play and tactics. There's talk of a cooperative multiplayer game as well, which would be a real-time strategy first. Westwood is looking to reinvent the RTS genre with the very game license that invented it in the first place.
